International Transvestite detained in Bukit Bintang raid

KUALA LUMPUR: The area surrounding Bukit Bintang, popularly known as the the site of immoral activities, has been raided by a team of Criminal Prevention Department Kuala Lumpur Police (D7 IPPKL) to reduce unhealthy activities early yesterday morning.

Raids began at 2 am and ended two hours later, targeting women and transvestite who were carrying out sexual services.

34 people comprising 19 women and 14 transvestites and male customers were arrested.

Nine women were Africans, Cambodians (three), Vietnam (two), Indonesia (two) and one each from the Philippines, Hong Kong and Bangladesh.

Eight of the 14 transvestites are the Philippines, Thailand (five) and Indonesia (one) and a Bangladeshi man who is also among the detained clients.

D7 IPKKL Staff Officer, Deputy Superintendent Azman Mohd Isa, said the raid was held at Jalan Bukit Bintang, Hotel Sabrina, Changkat Bukit Bintang and Pubs Silk.
