Memali incident occurred on 19 November 1985. This incident killed 18 people and dozens of others injured and hundreds of arrests. All the detained were released except 36 people. They were detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA). In clashes between the villagers and the police, Ustaz Ibrahim Mahmood, better known by Ibrahim Libya was killed. Police call this operation as 'Operation Fury / Operation Clear'.
It was during Datuk Seri Musa Hitam Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Security. At that time, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as Prime Minister of Malaysia in China.
